We are seeking an innovative, talented, and experienced Sales Applications Engineering Manager to join our team.  You will collaborate with our engineering team to develop new applications and improve upon existing ones that will serve our clients and business well.  Must be able to objectively analyze application performance and effectively implement necessary changes.

The leader in this role will bring a collaborative approach to help drive sales.  He/she will have broad strategic thinking abilities, coupled with excellent leadership skills to help the company define its competitive advantages and target to win in a growing gearbox market.  We are looking for energetic, resourceful leader, with strong product/solution development, sales support, and positive can-do attitude.  Superior attention to detail and continually striving for business excellence will be critical competency for success.

Key Responsibilities and Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Represent the company to its customers, acquiring, organizing and analyzing customer goals and application requirements, as well as develop applications that effectively accomplish the customer’s objectives
  • Act as the technical resource and liaison between the company and its customers to address and resolve inquiries, technical reviews, and problems, provide interpretation of drawings and specifications, and advise the effect of product design features and specification variation
  • Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application
  • Identify customer’s needs and sales opportunities to help future growth
  • Product application and troubleshooting on Gearbox systems
  • Preparation of proposals in consultations with various departments
  • Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects
  • Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives
  • Maintain accurate records of target accounts, opportunities, quoted, projects, contacts and correspondence in company approved databases
  • Perform technical/product training for sales people, estimators, and engineers at targeted accounts
  • Provides technical support to other sales members
  • Responsible for application-specific engineering support
  • Member of product development team for new products
  • Ensure that business processes include the capture of data needed to analyze key technical application metrics
  • Perform analysis and report findings and recommendations
  • Report on the status of key issues and key technical application metrics, and contribute to business forecasts and other reporting needs
  • Provide sales quotations

Job Qualifications and Education Require

  • The employee performs work related travel as required
  • Maintain technical competency and remain current in new developments within the industry
  • Knowledge of gears and gearboxes as applied in power train systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and e-mail communicator
  • Technical problem solver
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Hands-on technical and mechanical involvement
  • Organized, disciplined and capable of prioritizing and meeting deadlines
  • Enjoys a team atmosphere
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Familiarity with CAD software
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Sales and marketing experience a plus
  • Ability to handle client and customer issues tactfully and professionally
  • Enjoys complex problem-solving and collaboration
  • Basic computer knowledge – Word, Excel and e-mail
  • Basic knowledge of gear calculations

Education and Experience: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering and 10+ years of related experience; a combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered on a case by case basis.  Management experience with MBA a definite plus.
